Garden centers and plant nurseries sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and houseplants, along with soil, mulch, fertilizer, pots and tools. Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

This is a cute nursery, and the staff is usually helpful and friendly. But recently this older Caucasian lady was in a very bad mood, no smile, no hello and snapped at me when I asked a simple question. I noticed she very friendly and helpful to non-Asian customers, another time I was there. The owner needs to have a talk with this person; she should not be working at a Japanese nursery if she is going to be rude to Asian people. Racism is not cool and unacceptable!

Been to Yamaguchi Bonsai Nursery a few times and a few other times because the Annual California Bonsai Society Sale is held there. Each time I feel like every employee from upper level to gardener would rather be anywhere else and certainly have a rude edge to them. Have purchased a few items with not much direction other than, "yeah, those plants should work in your area". Then upon all dying and asking the manager for help, she said, "surprised you got that advice, we have no way of knowing your area". I said, "the public expects a professional nursery to know a bit more than just searching the internet, it's not the large home center's we're shopping at". No apologies for the $200 that was smoked. I even looked around and found the place really has not been kept up. So unorganized. Even asked about replacing the dead one's I lost for new one's. All I got was, "we don't have any in"......"Do you know when you might get more?"......"No. You can place an order if you want". Just dry, no personal interaction. Just annoyed they had to be there. Even asked prices for some of the bonsai trees, since half aren't priced. They had to go looking through a book that didn't even give them w

The pictures speak for themselves. Wide selection of stunning BONSAI TREES for indoor and outdoor! The young man at the front was incredibly helpful, he took the time to guide me through the best options for my needs and explained which bonsai trees are ideal for indoors versus outdoors. He also shared plenty of useful tips on how to properly care for them. I walked away feeling much more informed about bonsai trees. Great experience overall, I’ll definitely be back!

This is a hidden gemπŸ’Ž of all nurseries I visited so far. The place is kept by two generations, mother and daughter who are masters of their craft. You'll notice right away that the plants and flower are as healthy as can be. This is a nursery of quality and art from flowers to plants to bonsai trees 🌳. You'll remember when I say this is a place You'll always come back to! Very friendly and helpful staff🌞

West LA is park poor, but this nursery is so beautiful it makes up for it in spades. Wandering around, I forget about daily problems and fall in the moment, appreciating nature. There are a few highlights here. First, it’s like a bonsai museum. Second, they have a nice selection of indoor plants, such as the snake plant (also known as the mother in laws tongue). Third, they have special soils, tools, and nutrients for bonsai plants. There are sometimes a few parking spaces in the back, inside the gates, along Sawtelle.
